Things to Do
With the City of Firsts at the center, Howard County has opportunities and activities for everyone. Located about 40 minutes north of Indianapolis, Kokomo offers small-town living with a convenient location for an easy commute.
You can find enjoyable things to do for all ages throughout every season. You can catch a Kokomo Jackrabbits game featuring our summer collegiate baseball team in their new stadium. In the winter, the stadium transforms into the Frozen Sandlot, where you can enjoy ice skating and a cup of hot chocolate. You could spend a whole day enjoying downtown Kokomo, between our expansive library, which offers free programs and activities for all ages or our new family YMCA. Some other great options are the free summer concert series in Foster Park, the seasonal farmers market, or wandering around our First Friday celebrations, including an Art Walk Scavenger Hunt.
If you like spending time outdoors, we have several public parks, including a sports and water park, golf courses, trails and bike paths for you to enjoy. You can also take a tour of Kokomo Opalescent Glass, the oldest manufacturer of colored glass for art and architecture in North America and see firsthand how they’ve been blowing glass and creating custom pieces of art since 1888. Kokomo has a plethora of coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and unique boutiques.
